How to Migrate my WordPress Sit

Step-by-Step Migration Process

Manual migration

If you prefer to have full control, you can migrate your site manually. Here’s a simplified version of the steps involved:

  1. Exporting the database:
    • Access your site’s database via phpMyAdmin.
    • Select your database and click on “Export.”
    • Save the file to your computer.
  2. Uploading files to the new host:
    • Use an FTP client to download your site’s files from the current host.
    • Upload these files to the new host using the same FTP client.
  3. Importing the database:
    • Access the new host’s phpMyAdmin.
    • Create a new database and import the saved file.

Using migration plugins

Migration plugins can simplify the process significantly. Here’s how to use one of the top plugins:

  • Duplicator Plugin:
    1. Install and activate Duplicator on your old site.
    2. Create a new package and download both the installer and the archive file.
    3. Upload these files to your new host.
    4. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
